No Bake Granola Bars

This is a great recipe for granola bars, found on Pinterest of course (orignal link here). This recipe is fairly versatile, and you could totally add whatever ingredients you would like to it. I modified the original recipe slightly, and it still turned out great! They might not look too good, but they taste delicious! I didn't calculate anything, but I'm sure that this recipe would be much cheaper than buying store-bought granola bars, plus there's no preservatives, etc.

Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 4 cups quick cooking oats (not rolled oats)
- 2 cups cereal (I used corn flakes, recipe said rice krispies)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- 1 cup raisins
- anything else you would like to add!

In a large bowl, stir the dry ingredients together, and set aside.

In a small pot, melt butter, honey and brown sugar together over medium high heat until it comes to a bubble. Reduce the heat and cook 2 minutes. Pour in vanilla and stir.

Pour over dry ingredients and mix well to moisten all ingredients.

Pour into a pan with parchment paper on the bottom. Cover the top with another sheet of parchment paper, and press with a rolling pin. (Try to press it together as much as you can so it doesn't break).

Cool to room temperature for two hours, and then cut into bars. Wrap in parchment or plastic wrap and store at room temperature.

Variations: try it with craisins and white chocolate chips, use peanut butter instead of butter, add in nuts, or different kinds of cereal.... the options really are endless, it's mostly just the butter/honey/sugar part that you have to stick to, have fun with it! :)

Pinterest vs. Reality
Note: The original recipe said to sprinkle the chocolate chips on top of the granola bars after they're in the pan. I decided to just mix them in, and they melted immediately, but it tastes the same so it's up to you.
